Rock Shelter of la Caparrella Nature · Rasquera, Ribera d'Ebre, Tarragona Image of Rasquera, not of the place itself. The Caparrella rock shelter, in the municipality of Rasquera (Ribera d'Ebre, Tarragona), preserves Levantine rock art dated to the Epipalaeolithic, between 10,000 and 6,500 years ago: a figure of a female goat, a species with strong symbolic weight for the human groups who depicted it. The shelter was discovered in 1999 by Katja and Manfred Bader, during a survey campaign led by Anna Alonso and Alexandre Grimal, and since 1998 it has formed part, together with other sites of the Mediterranean Arc, of the Unesco World Heritage. The difficult access to the site makes a direct visit to the original painting inadvisable. Photo: Viquipèdia (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Rasquera
