Castle of Porrera Monument · Porrera, Priorat, Tarragona Of the castle of Porrera, of medieval origin, no archaeological remains survive today, although the land it occupied retains the name «era del castell» and a neighbourhood and a street in the upper part of the village are called «del Castell». It probably fell out of use around 1718: after Porrera's support for the Austracist side during the War of the Spanish Succession, the Audiencia decreed the demolition of the town's walls, at which point the castle also seems to have disappeared. It has been declared an Asset of National Cultural Interest by decree of 22 April 1949. Photo: joan ggk (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Porrera
