Wall of la Figuera Monument · la Figuera, Priorat, Tarragona Remains of the medieval wall that surrounded the settlement of la Figuera, in Priorat (Tarragona). According to oral tradition, the village was walled and fortified, and in the 18th century the parish church of Sant Martí was built on top of an old defensive structure that formed part of that enclosure. Today only scattered fragments of the original layout remain, whose memory is kept in the street names: Carrer del Portalet, Carrer de la Muralla, and the area known as El Castell, which mark the location of the old entrance gates to the walled town. The wall has been declared an Asset of National Cultural Interest since 8 November 1988. Photo: Juan Emilio Prades Bel (CC BY 4.0) What to see and do in la Figuera
