The church of el Lloar, dedicated to Sant Miquel Arcàngel, replaced in 1777 an earlier temple whose construction the bishop of Tortosa had authorised in 1558. The municipality recovered its Catalan name, El Lloar, in 1989, having officially been called Lloá.
