Rock Shelter of les Llibreres Nature · Freginals, Montsià, Tarragona Image of Freginals, not of the place itself. The Abric de les Llibreres, in the municipality of Freginals (Montsià), preserves prehistoric cave-painting representations protected as a World Heritage Site within the Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula. It is located near the Pietat cliff, in the Godall mountains, and was discovered in April 1983 by the Centre Excursionista of Ulldecona. It measures 5.5 by 2.4 metres, with a difficult access facing east. Less than a metre from the present ground level a scene is preserved with seven quadruped figures — deer and goats, identifiable by their neck, head and horns — painted using the flat-colour technique in dark red tones, all of them facing left except one.
