The fiesta mayor of Santa Coloma de Queralt is celebrated in a town that was home to one of the most active Jewish communities of inland Catalonia, with its own synagogue, butcher shop and documented moneylenders; it suffered an assault during the plague of 1348 and disappeared with the expulsion of 1492.
