Castle of Passanant Monument · Passanant i Belltall, Conca de Barberà, Tarragona Termenal castle that gives its name, together with that of Belltall, to the municipality of Passanant i Belltall, documented since 1123, when the brothers Ponç and Ramon de Cervera agreed to alternate their residence in it each year. It passed to the Òdena family in 1152 and in 1261 remained in the hands of the Knights Hospitaller, who kept it until the 19th century; by 1661 it was already in ruins. Of the fortress, of quadrangular plan and popular masonry from the 12th-13th centuries, the foundations survive, along with stretches of a tower wall, a cistern and a grain silo. Excavated in 1990 and 1999, it was restored in 2008 and is declared a cultural asset of national interest. Photo: EliziR (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Passanant i Belltall
