Castle of Sant Gallard Monument · les Piles, Conca de Barberà, Tarragona Old castle of the hamlet of Sant Gallard, in the municipality of les Piles, in the Conca de Barberà, catalogued as a cultural asset of national interest. No identifiable remains of the medieval building survive; the present structure, with a ground floor, an upper floor and an attic, preserves a bread oven, a millstone and a stone basin, as well as a polychrome relief of the Calvary above the arch of the central hall. The first documentary reference dates from 1179, when Adalbert de Queralt bequeathed half of the lordship to the monastery of Santes Creus, which obtained the other half in 1247 through the inheritance of Ramon Adalbert de Queralt and kept the castle until the Mendizábal disentailment.
