Wayside Cross of the Portal Reial Monument · Conesa, Conca de Barberà, Tarragona The wayside cross of the Portal Reial stands on the other side of the stream, facing the Portal Reial or Font gate of Conesa, outside the walls, at the fork of the old roads to Santa Coloma de Queralt and to Savallà del Comtat. On a base of two steps bearing the inscription «Santa Missió 1949» rises an octagonal plinth supporting a shaft in a single piece, eight metres high and fifty centimetres in diameter. The capital is decorated with sculpted groups of human figures and, above it, a small capital shows three coats of arms: that of the Catalan-Aragonese confederation, that of the Cervera family and that of the Montpaó family. The whole is crowned by a reconstructed cross, with two planes, decorated with motifs of stylised fleurs-de-lis. Photo: Angela Llop (CC BY-SA 2.0) What to see and do in Conesa
