Castle of Llorenç Monument · Llorenç del Penedès, Baix Penedès, Tarragona Castle of Llorenç del Penedès (Baix Penedès, Tarragona), documented since 1352 and declared a bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). In 1371 King Peter the Ceremonious sold its jurisdiction to Bernat Tous, whose family kept it until Beatriu de Tous; it later passed to the Desbosc i Vilagaià family, until 1671, and in the 18th century to the barons of Maldà. It combines Gothic architecture with historicist alterations of 1792 and 1848, and preserves an attached cylindrical tower, a bastion with a voussoired arched gateway, towers on both sides and a quadrangular interior courtyard.
