Tivenys's main festival, in honour of Sant Miquel Arcàngel and Sant Benet Abat, is held on 29 and 30 September, in a village founded in 1148 after the reconquest of Tortosa. Its assut (weir), construction of which began in 1440, was declared a national cultural asset in 2002.
