Fair of l'Avellana de Riudoms Activity · Riudoms, Baix Camp, Tarragona The Fira de l'Avellana de Riudoms, held on the second weekend of August, has its origin in the former Fira de Sant Llorenç, an agricultural and livestock fair documented since 1599 that was held every 10 August. Since 1981 it has also been devoted to the hazelnut, one of the municipality's main agricultural products, with the aim of showcasing its uses in cooking, pastry-making and drinks; it brings together producers, cooperatives and agricultural machinery, and includes tastings and the direct sale of the nut freshly gathered from the harvest. On Sunday afternoon the traditional race of hazelnut sack carriers is held, and the fair also offers attractions for all ages. Photo: Jordi Gili (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Riudoms
