Castle of Pratdip Monument · Pratdip, Baix Camp, Tarragona The castle of Pratdip, in the Baix Camp (Tarragona), is Gothic in style and is documented from the mid-12th century, when its parish church is mentioned in a papal bull of 1154. It belonged to the barony of Entença from 1244, and in 1324 King James II acquired it and joined it to the newly created county of Prades; in the 15th century it passed to the duchy of Cardona, and from 1663 it belonged to the dukes of Medinaceli, the last lords of the castle and the town of Pratdip. Today it is in ruins: only some later walls survive on the hill, without a roof, and it is declared a bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's designation for cultural heritage of national interest).
