Castle of la Mola Monument · Colldejou, Baix Camp, Tarragona A tower located in the municipal area of Colldejou, in Baix Camp, protected as bien cultural de interés nacional (Spain's highest level of heritage protection). It is a circular, single-storey structure, built of dry stone and possibly covered with a false dome; the literature places it around the mid-19th century, although its construction, a type of vernacular work very common in the area, makes precise dating difficult. It was built during the Third Carlist War for optical telegraphy, similarly to the Torre de l'Esquirol in Cambrils, using boards visible for kilometres. It is believed that an Iberian settlement once stood on the summit and that the site was used by Romans and Saracens, and tradition places here the refuge of the legendary Carrasclet, in the 18th century, fleeing Bourbon troops.
