Parish Church of Santa Maria de Preixana Monument · Preixana, Urgell, Lleida Parish church of Preixana, with a rectangular plan and a single nave, a straight main altar covered by two bays of ribbed vaulting, and a sacristy behind the altar. The vault keystones preserve the monogram of Christ and the date 1673, the year of the interior and façade reforms; the ribs end in anthropomorphic corbels and the buttresses reinforce the four corners. The portal, classicist within the Baroque style, is an architraved doorway topped with a triangular pediment. It suffered damage from the earthquakes of 1427-1428 and, at the end of the Civil War, from a bomb that affected the chancel; Regiones Devastadas rebuilt it between 1945 and 1948. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 2017. Photo: Isidre blanc (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Preixana
