Wayside Cross of Castellserà Monument · Castellserà, Urgell, Lleida A 16th-century wayside cross, declared a bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection), supported by a plain octagonal shaft on a stepped base. The knop, elongated and octagonal, is decorated at its base with monster faces flanking four coats of arms, and houses evangelists and saints —each with their attribute— within pointed arches leading to the lantern with its eight niches. On one face is Christ the Redeemer, with palmettes and a skull below, and on the other the Virgin surrounded by angel heads; between the arms, with volutes, runs a decoration of interlaced stems. Formerly located beside Cal Toret, it was dismantled and kept in pieces during the Civil War, and restored by the town council in 1949 on the occasion of the Santa Misión, when it was placed in its current location.
