Walled Enclosure of Sant Llorenç de Morunys Monument · Sant Llorenç de Morunys, Solsonès, Lleida Walled enclosure of Sant Llorenç de Morunys (Solsonès), declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Spain's highest level of heritage protection). The walls, of irregular pentagonal plan, were built at the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th, following the charter of franchises granted in 1297 by the count of Cardona to the settlement formed next to the monastery of Sant Llorenç, founded in the 10th century; they were completed around 1400. They were flanked by between ten and eleven rectangular towers, of not very uniform plans. By the mid-19th century more than thirty varas of wall, the tower of the old monastery and the five access gates were still preserved; today only three of those arches remain, that of Canal, that of Vall Fred and that of Pietat.
