Church of Sant Salvador de Torrebesses Monument · Torrebesses, Segrià, Lleida The church of Sant Salvador de Torrebesses (Segrià, Lleida), of Romanesque origin dated to the second half of the 12th century, is declared bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). It stands on a rocky mound at the northern edge of the village and, together with the Castle-Palace, is the visual landmark of Torrebesses; it was built after a stretch of wall was demolished. It has a single nave with a slightly pointed barrel vault, a semicircular apse and three rectangular chapels of a later period, among them that of Sant Joan Baptista, from the 15th century, with a Gothic ribbed vault and a limestone altarpiece retaining traces of polychromy from the second half of the 14th century, restored in 1989. The 14th-century portal has three archivolts supported on columns with capitals decorated with foliage. Photo: Deosringas (CC BY-SA 3.0 es) What to see and do in Torrebesses
