Walled Enclosure and Castle of Llardecans Monument · Llardecans, Segrià, Lleida Image of Llardecans, not of the place itself. Remains of the castle and the old walled precinct of Llardecans (Segrià), built in the 13th century, when the town was resettled late; in 1248 the lordship was granted to the Santcliment family, and in the 18th century it passed to the barony of Maials, in the hands of the Bassecourt family, counts of Santa Clara, until the abolition of lordships in the 19th century. Of the fortress only the eastern wall of a rectangular structure and the start of the northern wall survive, 180 centimetres high, with remains of a barrel vault over an 80-centimetre masonry plinth; barely three stone voussoirs remain, the rest having been plundered. Modern works for water tanks damaged the site. The ensemble is declared Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection).
