Castle-Palace of Aspa Monument · Aspa, Segrià, Lleida A castle-palace in the municipality of Aspa, in the Segrià comarca, which was first an episcopal palace and later a rectory; it is declared bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). The Bishop of Lérida had it built in the early 13th century, and the building, already mentioned in a document of 1215, was the bishops' usual residence until the 19th century. Of trapezoidal plan, it preserves a Gothic gallery overlooking the valley of the river Set, a cobbled courtyard with an old well, and the remains of a chapel with pointed arcades, largely destroyed in 1936. The town council acquired the building in 1989 through a donation from its last owner. Photo: Deosringas (CC BY-SA 3.0 es) What to see and do in Aspa
