Castle of la Curullada Monument · Granyanella, Segarra, Lleida White stone fortified house of the Segarra atop a hill overlooking la Curullada, in Granyanella, above the Ondara river, next to the crossroads that gave rise to the place name 'sa Cruïllada'. It was built in the mid-11th century, in the hands of the Cervera family; before 1340 it passed to Maimó d'Oluja and then to the priory of Sant Pere dels Arquells, which sold it in 1376 to Jaume Desvalls. In 1534 the heiress Isabel d'Alentorn i Desvalls married Bernat de Saportella; their descendants kept it until in the 17th century it passed to the Vilallonga family through the marriage of Francesc de Vilallonga i de Xetmar, lord of Estaràs, a family that still held it in the 19th century. Rectangular in plan, it preserves a three-storey tower with battlements from a 21st-century restoration, and the remains of a machicolation.
