Gate and Fortification of l'Aranyó Monument · els Plans de Sió, Segarra, Lleida Remains of the medieval fortification of l'Aranyó, a village in the municipality of els Plans de Sió (Segarra, Lleida), around the village castle, built in the 16th century on a quadrangular stone structure topped by a tower. The castle is the birthplace of the writer Manuel de Pedrolo, who described its tower as neither very tall nor slender. Near the settlement stand els pallers de pedra, two large, heavily eroded sandstone rocks whose shape has given rise to local legends.
