Hermitage of Torregrossa Monument · Torregrossa, Pla d'Urgell, Lleida Ermita (hermitage) of Sant Roc, in the municipality of Torregrossa (Pla d'Urgell, Lleida), a town whose castle is documented in 1172 as a border stronghold facing Siurana. The first references to the hermitage date from 1541, when it was a small temple located outside the castle walls; it was rebuilt in 1748, the year its feast day was fixed on 29 December, and again in 1929 and in 1991, this last renovation directed by the parish priest Josep Coll i Soler. In the fields of Margalef, within the same municipality, French troops defeated General O'Donnell's column in 1810.
