Church of Sant Joan Baptista del Palau d'Anglesola Monument · el Palau d'Anglesola, Pla d'Urgell, Lleida Baroque church transitioning to neoclassical, built between 1798 and 1805. The municipality took its name from a former palace-castle remodelled in the 17th century, and its first Templar commander, Ramon Barrufell, was a landowner of Palau d'Anglesola. The first record of a church on the site dates from 1118, and around 1798 it was decided to build the present one, which was to be finished within five years; under the agreement, the top of the façade was to be identical to that of the church of Ivars d'Urgell, although in the end it was not. It has three naves with continuous side chapels and preserves a stone baptismal font decorated with two angels holding a heraldic emblem. The roof currently shows significant cracks caused by rising damp. Photo: Xbosch (Public domain) What to see and do in el Palau d'Anglesola
