August Main Festivals of the Pallars Jussà

The cycle of August Festes Majors (patron saint festivals) of Pallars Jussà includes the patronal festivals of the small villages of the district, such as Salàs de Pallars. Its main festival is held on 5 August in honour of the Mare de Déu de les Neus (Our Lady of the Snows); there is also a minor festival, the xica, on 16 September or the following Sunday, dedicated to Saint Cyprian, with a bell dance recorded by the folklorist Joan Amades, in which the young men carried bells that were the property of the saint's confraternity.
