Collegats Gorge Nature · la Pobla de Segur, Pallars Jussà, Lleida The Collegats gorge, carved by the Noguera Pallaresa river between the Peracalç and Boumort mountain ranges, straddles the districts of Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà. One of its most distinctive spots is l'Argenteria, whose rock formations are said to have inspired Antoni Gaudí for the façade of La Pedrera. At its southern end, the Barranco del Infierno ravine, the boundary between the two Pallars, flows into the Noguera Pallaresa forming a deep, closed valley, almost a cleft in the rock. Until the mid-19th century there was no passable route through Collegats, and roads between the two Pallars had to go around via Montsor, Montcortès and Peramea. It was then that the Bringuer household, from la Pobla de Segur, obtained permission to open a passage through the gorge.
