Castle of Hortoneda

Romanesque castle of medieval origin of which only the interior fill of its circular tower and a few wall stretches in poor condition survive; it belonged to the Orcau family and later passed to the county of Pallars Jussà, to the dukes of Cardona, and finally to the House of Medinaceli. Today the esplanade holds a municipal water tank. A Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's top heritage-protection category) (RI-51-0006424).
