Castle of Alòs Monument · Alòs de Balaguer, Noguera, Lleida Castle that gives its name to the municipality of Alòs de Balaguer, in the Noguera. According to 2019 studies led by the architect Jordi Morros, its construction began around the year 730, which would make it one of the oldest surviving defensive monuments in Catalonia. It was conquered by count Ramon Borrell I in 1015-1016 and definitively by Ramon Berenguer I in 1024, passing to the county of Urgell; in 1058 count Ermengol III enfeoffed it to Arnau Mir de Tost. It combines Romanesque and Gothic elements, and preserves an 18-metre circular tower and a 10-metre wall with a truncated spur. It belonged to the chapter of la Seu d'Urgell until 1831.
