Church of Fulleda Monument · Fulleda, Garrigues, Lleida The church of Santa Maria de Fulleda, located in the centre of the town, was a suffragan of the parish of l'Espluga Calba and, like it, was dependent on the archbishopric of Tarragona until the 15th century; in 1772 it became a perpetual vicarage. The original building, from the late 13th century, is Romanesque of Cistercian influence, with a single nave with side chapels and a pointed barrel vault; it preserves the old Romanesque portal, now blocked up, and three funerary steles in the bell-gable. It was modified between the 18th and 19th centuries with Baroque and Neoclassical additions, including the current portal, from 1739, on the west gable, and the chancel, rebuilt in 1847. In 1947 the painter Pere Martí decorated the altar with borders and marble imitations that are still preserved. Photo: Santi Arbós (Wikimedia Commons) (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Fulleda
