Pyrenees Accordionists' Gathering Historical milestone · Arsèguel, Alt Urgell, Lleida Image of Arsèguel, not of the place itself. A traditional music festival held in Arsèguel (Alt Urgell) since 1976 at the initiative of the musician Artur Blasco, president of the Associació d'Arsèguel i els Acordionistes del Pirineu; it is the oldest traditional music festival in Catalonia and is considered the most important diatonic accordion festival in Europe, one that revived the repertoire of this instrument native to the Pyrenees. For economic reasons, since the 36th edition, in 2011, some performances have also been moved to la Seu d'Urgell; that year thirteen Catalan groups and twelve international ones took part, from countries such as Quebec, Portugal, France, Moldova and Colombia. The village also keeps an accordion museum with instruments from all over Europe, the oldest dating from 1840, and the event is held on the last Saturday of July. 1976 Photo: Naturquell (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Arsèguel
