Hermitage of Santa Bàrbara Monument · Anglès, Selva, Girona Hermitage atop a hill above Anglès, at 864 metres above sea level, with views of the Pyrenees, the Gulf of Roses and the Selva, built in the 13th century next to a two-storey refuge house with which it forms a single complex; it owes its present appearance to an 18th-century alteration. The hermitage proper is a small chapel with a single nave of two bays and a chancel in a half-round apse, with a single-arched bell-gable whose bell bears an inscription of 1952. The first documentary reference dates from 1310, and it is known that the chapel was built in 1419. The aplec held in its honour takes place on the second Sunday of May.
