Hermitage of Sant Amanç Monument · Anglès, Selva, Girona The hermitage of Sant Amanç is a sanctuary in the Masies de Sant Amanç neighbourhood, in the municipality of Anglès (Selva), listed as architectural heritage by the Generalitat de Catalunya. The earliest mention of it dates from 1019, when it is named as Sancti Amancii Anglensis; it came to be the seat of a parish before those of Anglès and Sant Martí Sapresa, which gave rise to the surrounding hamlet of farmhouses. Worship declined from the 15th century and it was completely abandoned in the 19th. Romanesque in style and of complex plan, with a rectangular apse perpendicular to the nave, it preserves an arched door with a coat of arms on the keystone and a two-arched bell-gable. Restored between 2007 and 2014 by a residents' association, on 15 November of that year the bishop of Girona presided over a celebratory mass.
