Sant Cristòfol de Toses Monument · Toses, Ripollès, Girona Sant Cristòfol de Toses is a Romanesque church located on the outskirts of the village, at the top of a set of terraces overlooking the whole valley. It has a single-nave plan with a semicircular apse and two chapels that give it the shape of a Latin cross, covered with a pointed barrel vault; the right-hand chapel is housed beneath a two-storey bell tower. The place is documented in the year 839 as part of the county of Cerdanya, and the first reliable records date from 1035; the architectural elements are dated to around the 11th century and the apse to around the 12th. Its original mural paintings, together with other pieces from the apse and the baldachin, were transferred to the National Art Museum of Catalonia in 1952; more recently, some fragments have been discovered and restored, and are preserved in situ.
