Costabona Nature · Molló, Ripollès, Girona The Costabona is a granite massif of 2,465 metres that crowns the Pyrenean ridge line between the Ter valley, in the Ripollès, and that of the Tech, in the French Vallespir, and forms the last great peak of that ridge heading east. On its southern slope rise the Vall-llobre and Ritort torrents, tributaries of the Ter, while the northern slope overlooks the Haut Vallespir and the Bains de la Preste. Near the summit, at about 2,300 metres, lie the Costabona mines, worked for scheelite, and at the head of the Vall-llobre the refuge that bears its name. From the summit, marked by a geodesic marker and several crosses, a wide panorama opens out taking in the Gulf of Roses, the Canigou and the peaks of the Ulldeter cirque; it is one of the peaks most frequented by hikers in the area and is included in the FEEC's list of the 100 cims.
