Sant Llorenç de Campdevànol Monument · Campdevànol, Ripollès, Girona A parish already independent in 1075 and belonging to the monastery of Ripoll, registered since then in the Bishopric of Vic and documented in the 11th and 12th centuries as Sant Llorenç de Campo Avandali or Vanalo, located on the left bank of the river Merdàs, near the road to Gombrèn (Campdevànol). Of the original Romanesque church only the bell tower survives, two storeys high with blind arcading and lesenes; the church suffered serious destruction in the 17th century and was rebuilt in 1674, with chapels, a sacristy and a pointed-arch roof, the apse having been removed. During the Civil War part of the rectory and the church burned, with the roof and the west and north walls destroyed. In 1990 the Bishopric of Vic transferred the church to the Capdevila family, who completed the bell tower with its Lombard arcading. Photo: Gelatdeneu (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Campdevànol
