Castle of Falgons Monument · Sant Miquel de Campmajor, Pla de l'Estany, Girona Falgons Castle, in the municipality of Sant Miquel de Campmajor, in the Pla de l'Estany, was the centre of the former barony of Falgons, held from the 12th century by the Cartellà family. The settlement of Falgons, made up of scattered farmhouses with no urban core, is already recorded between 898 and 917, and was an independent municipality until, in the 19th century, its territory was merged into that of Sant Miquel de Campmajor. The castle, remodelled between the 13th and 18th centuries, has a square plan with a tower at each corner, three of them restored, and a voussoired round-arched gateway topped by the coat of arms of the Cartellà family; one of the towers remains partly ruined.
