Santa Eulàlia de Crespià Monument · Crespià, Pla de l'Estany, Girona Church of Romanesque origin from the 12th century, enlarged in the 16th century with two side aisles; it preserves the original portal with four receding round arches. It was first dedicated to Saint Mark before passing to Saint Eulalia, a dedication already documented in 1151. In 1889 the parish priest Joaquim Dalmau commissioned the decoration of the apse ceiling with mural paintings by Joaquim Murta, showing angels and twenty-two saints around the symbol of divinity: it is the only surviving example of this Girona painter's mural work. In 1936 the 1626 main altarpiece and other Baroque side altarpieces were lost, as was a Gothic marble one; the building was consolidated and restored between 1973 and 1975 by the Diputació de Girona. A notable octagonal Baroque baptismal font is preserved. Photo: Josep Maria Viñolas Esteva (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Crespià
