Castle of Medinyà Monument · Sant Julià de Ramis, Gironès, Girona A castle documented since 1017, when the village of Medinyà is mentioned in a bull of Pope Benedict VIII to the monastery of Banyoles; it stands in the settlement of Medinyà, in the Gironès, next to the junction of the N-II and the GI-514 road, within the municipality of Sant Julià de Ramis. Its circular keep, of medieval origin, was incorporated into a residential wing remodelled in the 18th century until it became a large manor farmhouse. Its lords were first the Dalmau family, documented on the site since 1128, and from the 14th century the Xetmar family, who inherited the estate.
