The Castell de Fornells, in Fornells de la Selva (Gironès), is a castle of medieval origin documented since 1049, when Counts Ramon Berenguer I and Elisabet de Nimes granted it to Hug Guillem and his successors. Its remains, raised in the 10th century, were transformed over time into a farmhouse. Next to the castle stands the chapel of Santa Maria del Castell, of Romanesque origin and today in ruins, dedicated to the Virgin Mary since 1122.
