Church of Sant Esteve de Bordils Monument · Bordils, Gironès, Girona The church of Sant Esteve de Bordils, in Gothic style with Renaissance details, began to be built in 1561, as the inscription on the main door states. It has a single nave covered with ribbed vaults, whose central keystones show the coats of arms of Bordils, the pope and Catalonia; the springings of the arches are carved with figures of animals. It has three chapels on each side, added in the 18th century, and a square-based bell tower topped by an octagonal body with pointed arcades, gargoyles and pierced balustrade. Two 16th-century defensive turrets flank the main façade. It is declared Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection).
