Castle of Sant Iscle Monument · Serra de Daró, Baix Empordà, Girona Tower and remains of the fortification of Sant Iscle, documented since the 13th century, in the centre of Sant Iscle d'Empordà, in the municipality of Serra de Daró, in the Baix Empordà. Of the old fortress, declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Spain's highest level of heritage protection), fragments of wall survive, along with the fortification walls of the church and the remains of two cylindrical towers. The most notable, about 12 metres high and well preserved, rises on the threshing floor of a farmhouse and retains loopholes and well-squared ashlar blocks; it shapes the characteristic image of the place. The castle appears documented in 1271 as the property of the counts of Empúries, and passed in the 15th century to the Margarit family and later to the Senesterra.
