Vedell Cove Nature · Mont-ras, Baix Empordà, Girona Cala del Vedell is a small natural pebble beach located in the district of Mont-ras, in the Baix Empordà, facing south-east, about 95 metres long and 15 metres wide. Access on foot is difficult, which explains its low occupancy in summer. Together with els Canyers, Cala Estreta, Cap de Planes and el Crit, it is protected by the Plan for Natural Interest Areas under the generic name of Muntanyes de Begur. Its name may be due to the presence, in past times, of a species of seal now extinct on the Costa Brava, since vedell was a synonym for sea cow.
