Sant Sadurní de Garrigoles Monument · Garrigoles, Baix Empordà, Girona Rural Romanesque church located among the farmhouses that make up the village of Garrigoles, within the extensive network of Romanesque temples of the Baix Empordà. In 1185 it was ceded by Girona to the order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, who established a community here, and in 1210 the place became part of the domains of the Benedictine abbey of Santa Maria d'Amer; by the late 14th century it belonged to the barony of Verges. It has a single nave with a vaulted semicircular abside, a portal of three degrading round arches and a two-storey bell-gable, whose upper section is a late addition. On the cornice of the south wall a small figure carved in relief is preserved; the side chapels of the north wall were demolished in the 1970s restoration.
