Sant Romà de Llabià Monument · Fontanilles, Baix Empordà, Girona Romanesque church of Llabià, a hamlet of the municipality of Fontanilles (Baix Empordà), included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia. It is a single-nave building with a semicircular abside, a round-arch portal with an archivolt decorated with human heads, and a later square-plan bell tower with twin arches on each side. The church, then called Sancti Romani de Libiano, is already mentioned in 1058, when it was restored to the bishop of Girona by countess Ermesenda de Barcelona, and belonged to the Augustinian chapter of Santa María de Ullà. It forms part of the notable ensemble of rural Romanesque architecture of the Baix Empordà. Photo: Bestiasonica (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Fontanilles
