Sant Cugat d'Albons Monument · Albons, Baix Empordà, Girona The church of Sant Cugat, parish church of Albons, in the Baix Empordà, is included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia and is already documented in the years 1279 and 1280. It is a single-nave building with a very deep semicircular apse of early Romanesque construction, with a somewhat later western section, of late Romanesque style; the façade, the bell tower, some openings and the interior plasterwork are modern restorations, while the north wall preserves remains of an old side door and large ashlars reused from Roman times. The nave is covered with a barrel vault and the presbytery with a quarter-sphere vault; a monolithic Romanesque baptismal font is preserved, and near the western end of the nave there are two Gothic gravestones.
