Church of Sant Feliu de Vilajuïga Monument · Vilajuïga, Alt Empordà, Girona Church located in the historic centre of Vilajuïga, between the streets of l'Església and del Call, popularly known as “the synagogue”, a name that refers to the site of “villa Iudaica” documented as a possession of the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes in 982 and 990, within the County of Empúries. It preserves, from the first half of the 11th century, the façade and part of the Romanesque nave, a single nave with a barrel vault divided into three bays by transverse arches, with a round-arched portal, a sawtooth archivolt and a drip moulding. Between the 17th and 18th centuries a larger new church was built alongside it, which today holds worship while the Romanesque nave serves as a vestibule; in that extension materials from the original temple were reused, such as the exterior cornice.
