The Festa Major of Sant Quirze del Vallès is always celebrated on the first weekend of September, with four days of shows, music and popular culture. Among its leading figures are the village's giants, Quirze and Julita, who represent the local patron saints: a Roman Christian mother and son martyred during the persecutions of the emperor Diocletian in the 3rd century. The pair of giants, created in 1984 by local geganters, was christened during the 1985 Festa Major with the sponsorship of the giants of Sabadell and Mataró, and has since gone out to dance at celebrations alongside small giants and big-heads.
