Castle of la Roca Monument · Sant Llorenç Savall, Vallès Occidental, Barcelona The Castell de la Roca, also called Torrota de la Roca, stands in the south of the district of Sant Llorenç Savall, in the Vallès Occidental. It is a Romanesque-style tower already documented in 1087, which formed part of the defensive system of the Castell de Pera, for which it served as a lookout over the valleys of Horta and Ripoll, terrain the latter did not command. A square building 11.5 metres on each side survives, with the northeast wall in better condition, about 3 metres high, built with stones of various sizes and cut cobbles. A few metres to the east there are very scant remains of a second watchtower. The whole has been declared a cultural asset of national interest since 1988.
