Church of Sant Esteve de Ripollet Monument · Ripollet, Vallès Occidental, Barcelona Parish church of Sant Esteve, in Ripollet, a city in the Barcelona metropolitan area in the southeast of the Vallès Occidental, whose name comes from the river Ripoll — Rivus Pullus in Latin, stream of poplars. The church retains an original Romanesque structure with a Latin-cross plan, a nave covered by a slightly pointed barrel vault and a semicircular apse, to which two side aisles were later added, one of them above the gallery of a former cloister. The doorway, in 17th-century Renaissance style, displays on its metopes floral motifs and chicks taken from the town's heraldic coat of arms. The present roof was built in 1803, and in 1892 a new modernist bell tower was built, the work of the architect Josep Torres i Argullol. Photo: Susi4 (CC BY 3.0) What to see and do in Ripollet
