Castle of Castellar (Clasquerí) Monument · Castellar del Vallès, Vallès Occidental, Barcelona The castle of Clasquerí is the castle that gives its name to Castellar del Vallès, in Vallès Occidental. Documented since 939, the present structure derives largely from the 1335 remodeling carried out by Guerau de Clasquerí, with restorations spanning the 19th and 20th centuries. The complex, with a trapezoidal floor plan, a central courtyard and crenellated towers at the corners, also includes the Gothic chapel of Santa Bàrbara, with 1548 paintings by Pere Serafí, an aqueduct that carried water to the castle's pool, and a two-story farmhouse. In a chamber of the main tower a mural painting from 1581 is preserved. It is declared Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Spain's highest level of heritage protection).
